JOHNNY MANZIEL BACK IN THE GOOD OLD DAYS AT TEXAS A & M.

The former Texas A&M University star quarterback turned NFL bust said he wants to play for the Dallas Cowboys.

Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones has had a man crush on Johnny Manziel for years. Jones wanted to draft the qb as a rookie in 2014. Thankfully, son Stephen Jones put a roofie in his dad’s Jack Daniels and averted that crisis. Manziel went on to the Cleveland Browns, where he was a disappointment and distraction from the start, earning an average qb rating of 74.4 after two seasons. Jones would be better off re-signing Brandon Weeden. Or Quincy Carter, for that matter.

Soft-headed, er, -hearted Jones reached out to Manziel in 2015 after the NFL bust began a downward spiral in his personal life. Jones even warmed up my cold heart to the possibility of putting Manziel in a Cowboys uniform. What a fool I was.

Earlier this year, a Cowboys source indicated there might still be interest in Manziel if her were to get his life in order.

Jerry, please don’t give in to your craving to get a once talented player at a bottom-dollar price. Going after cheap losers with hopes of turning them around hasn’t been working lately. Manziel has to find his moment of clarity on his own, not in the Cowboys locker room.

  1. Who the hell is Jeff Prince? Jerry Jones needs to find him and hire him to save the franchise. How he’s managed to keep it afloat all these years without the sage advice of Jeff Prince is a miracle.
