Christ Chapel will receive a hefty dose of Fort Worthian Red Dirt rockers Left Arm Tan throughout March. On Fri., the 11th, at the church (3740 Birchman Ave., 817-731-4329), the quartet will share a bill with Fort Worth pop-rockers Green River Ordinance as part of ArtReach, a concert-slash-art exhibit. (No, while the art may be Christian-themed, the music is not, though neither band is raunchy or disseminates gratuitously violent lyrics.) Later in the month, at the church’s studio (where GRO’s first album was recorded, across the street from Fred’s Texas Café in the West 7th Street corridor), Left Arm Tan will begin recording its second album, with producer Brian Kieta (from Christ Chapel), who also will handle mixing duties, though some of them, LAT’s Daniel Hines tells me, may be delegated to Robin Hood Brians (ZZ Top), who engineered LAT’s debut album, Jim.
And you might see LAT at SXSW this year. The band is trying to set up some shows in Austin during the annual music festival and conference.
“Wish,” off Jim, was recently named song of the year by SavingCountryMusic.com.
