Spring is here, so it’s time for beer drinkers to put away the winter warmers, the barleywines, and the dark beers that you practically have to chew through. The weather’s made for something lighter, juicier, and fresher. Perhaps you like the clean taste of Goose Island’s 312 Urban Wheat, or maybe you go in for Deschutes’ Fresh Squeezed IPA, which boasts that it tastes like hops squeezed straight into the glass. Maybe you want Deep Ellum Brewing Co.’s corn-based Mexican lager Neato Bandito. Or maybe you want to bypass hops entirely and get Bishop Brewing’s semisweet Nectar Cider, sweetened with Texas honey. All of those will be on tap at the sixth annual Brewfest on Crockett, going on this Saturday evening in the West 7th district.
Besides the beer, the outdoor spring event also features two stages’ worth of live music headlined by Poo Live Crew. The local restaurants will also have their food out, so if you can’t afford to eat regularly at the ritzy establishments in West 7th, Brewfest represents your chance. A portion of all sales benefits Autism Therapy in Fort Worth, so you can drink up for a good cause. Just remember to have a sober ride out of the district.
