TEAM. What a great name!

Fun family stuff from your Weekly editor and the author of The Dadding Hack, a new blog that you should probably (maybe) be reading on a regular basis.

Is Vampire Weekend still doing jungle-pop? Have they moved on? I’m just wondering what’s going to happen to all of the bands that aren’t Vampire Weekend but really want to be Vampire Weekend after jungle-pop goes away. Hmm.

Anyway, Dallas has a great jungle-pop band –– just because the style is passé doesn’t mean the music is; in fact, some people still like the blues –– TEAM goes onstage at 7pm tonight (Fri) at Nasher Sculpture Center (2001 Flora St, Dallas, 214/242-5100) as part of the museum series ’Til Midnight at the Nasher. An acoustic singer-songwriter showcase kicks off the evening at 6pm, and the night will wind down with the mezza-mezz Lego Movie starting at 9. (C’mon. The movie wasn’t that great. “Mezza-mezz” is being generous.)

Free admission.

Not far from the Nasher tonight (Fri), it’s Late Night at the Dallas Museum of Art (1717 N Harwood St, 214/922-1200). From 6 ’til midnight, enjoy performances by Rhett Butler, Liz Mikel, the Matt Tolentino Band, and DJ Mark Ridlen, who’ll be doing ’80s karaoke, plus some tech labs, tours, and a screening of Gerhard Richter Painting.

Free admission.

The other day, I had this idea for a segment on a reality TV show to find the next great comedian. Have the contestants lecture at a real science-y event –– like an astrophysics convention or anatomy class –– and see how long they can make it until someone calls them on their bullshit. Great idea, right? Well, that’s why I’m not in pictures. Anyway, as part of the Artful Readings series tonight (Fri) at the Kimbell Art Museum (3333 Camp Bowie Blvd, 817-332-8451), you’re welcome to discuss Nina Siegal’s 2014 book, The Anatomy Lesson: A Novel, from 5:30 until 7pm. Admission is $16 members; $20 nonmembers.
