TCC’s 50th anniversary celebration goes on at Panther Pavilion, Sat.

This Friday marks the 50th anniversary of the election that created the Tarrant County Junior College District. Since then, the organization has shortened its name to Tarrant County College District, the enrollment has swelled to more than 100,000 students, and the network of schools has grown from the single campus that opened in 1967 to the five that now exist, with a sixth one in the offing. To commemorate all this, TCC is holding TCC Proud: Celebrating 50 Years at Panther City Pavilion this weekend.

All five of TCC’s campuses will be taking part in a series of performances embodying the different decades that the colleges have been in operation. The party will include hot dogs, chips, and other treats, and members of Fort Worth Vaqueros will be on hand to demonstrate their skills. Feel free to bring the kids, too; there’ll be face-painting, balloon artists, and appearances by the Texas Rangers and TCC’s mascots. After spending a half century bolstering the community’s job skills, life skills, and general well-being, the colleges deserve to throw themselves a party.
