Stockyards Plan Revealed

Private companies told a group of people during a presentation Tuesday they are planning a massive $174 Million development around the stockyards including, they say, preserving and expanding historic livestock barns and auction areas. Of course, the historical overlay will also preserve the Sonic, Walgreens, and Jack in the Box ––now treasured historical buildings.

The Plaza Medical Center in Fort Worth became the first hospital in North Texas to perform a procedure to lower stroke risk in patients suffering from atrial fibrillation. The local gravy and butter consortium will be handing out free samples to celebrate.

Another Hobbled Ranger Returns

In sports news, Martin Perez will make his return to the Rangers’ rotation on Friday.  Last week, Matt Harrison struggled in his return from spinal fusion surgery in a start that an accomplishment in itself. On Friday, Martin Perez will make his own return from a 14-month hiatus from Tommy John surgery.

So here we go, final days of Dez-line, the waiting is almost over, the numbers will be out, and the football fans can get off the edge of their seats and turn out attention to lining up opponents on paper and planning out a Super Bowl Parade route.

Local Students Take Flight

About 150 students in grades 3-8 participated in a week-long summer enrichment camp called “Taking Flight” that ended Friday at Dunbar High School. The school features a showcase aviation program, known as “Aviation Technology Gold Seal Program of Choice,” for students interested in aerospace engineering and related career.
