More Fucking Rain!

Did you ever think we’d be complaining about too much rain in Texas? Even Pete Delkus is wearing arm floaties to work. Luckily our city leaders are preparing for the latest round of rainfall brought by Hurri-storm Bill, the least menacing-sounding name for a storm since Hurricane Mildred is the ’40s.

Range On Tour

Pennsylvania environmental regulators are pursuing a record $8.9 million fine against Fort Worth-based Range Resources for repeatedly failing to repair a natural-gas well that contaminated groundwater and a stream in the north-central part of William Penn’s state. Local environmental regulators were overheard chuckling and muttering under their breath, “get in line, Yankees.”

The Guns of Texas are Upon You

Believing Texas wasn’t “gunny” enough, Gov. Greg Abbott finally signed the oft-discussed bill in to law that will allow Texans to “openly carry” holstered handguns any place that allows the licensed carrying of a concealed handgun. He signed another bill that lets people with a gun license carry a concealed handgun on college campuses.

#EmptyBassHall

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, a dozen Fort Worth photographers, both amateurs and professionals, will come together to capture and share Instagram images of Bass Performance Hall, using the hashtag #EmptyBassHall. The photographers will be exploring various areas of the Hall, from underground tunnels, to the belly of the orchestra pit, to secret passages and hidden rooms; many of these areas have never before been photographed.

Juneteenth

Here’s a link from the Star-T that rounds up all of the Juneteenth celebrations. The holiday celebrates June 19, 1865, the day Texans learned slavery had been abolished. It was two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation took effect on Jan. 1, 1863. That’s right, a round-up post within a round-up post. #journalism
