Admittedly, Elton John and Leon Russell make for an odd bill. Elton is on fire, and Russell is kind of subdued. Alas, they will be sharing a bill tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Fort Worth Convention Center (1201 Houston St.). As a child of the ’70s, I mostly remember Elton John as that guy my older sister listened to all the time. Being a dude, I was drawn more toward harder-edged, muscular stuff: Foreigner, Bad Company, Frampton, The Cars, Gary Numan. (Don’t be hatin’. All I had were my older brothers’ albums to listen to. My paper route money didn’t generate nearly enough cash for me to blow on albums of my own. Not to throw my brothers completely under the bus, I’ll also state for the record that they listened to stuff that I just wasn’t old/mature enough to understand and that is undoubtedly hip, mainly Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Genesis [a lot of early Genesis], and Neil Young, and my oldest brother was way into disco. But none of that Bee Gees crap. I’m talking funky stuff like Rick James, Heatwave, and Donna Summer.) Elton John will always remind me of my sister, who even wore crazy-ass sunglasses like Elton did. Needless to say, his halcyon days were with lyricist Bernie Taupin. Here’s to hoping that Sir Elton will trot out some oldies but goodies tomorrow night. Tickets are $53.04-172.24. I like to think I’m pretty hip, but I’ve got to tell you, I missed the whole Dandy Warhols train. Like every other wannabe hipster, I knew of only “Bohemian Like You,” a catchy rock song that came out in the ’90s and that, according to two Dandy fans I know, is not wholly representative of the band. Whatever. The Dandys probably won’t even play the song at their show tomorrow night (Saturday) at the Granada Theater (3524 Greenville Ave., 214-824-9933), with Hopewell. Tickets are $17.

Congratulations to the winner of our Calhoun/The Orbans/The O’s ticket giveaway, Maria Repnikova. Enjoy the show. And this video.
