Shaping Sound Dance Co
Shaping Sound Dance Co. performs at Bass Hall, Wed.

WED • 28 If you watched the Oxygen Network’s reality show All the Right Moves, you know the story of the Shaping Sound Dance Co., put together by young choreographer Travis Wall and his friends and roommates. Now this contemporary troupe (many of whose cast members have also appeared on So You Think You Can Dance) takes the stage at 7:30pm at Bass Performance Hall, 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $27.50-60.50. Call 817-212-4280.

THURSDAY • 29 Tenor Lawrence Brownlee has won praise for his agile and beautiful renderings of the Italian bel canto repertoire, but he’s bringing a much more varied program when he visits the Kimbell Art Museum this evening. In addition to Mozart and Liszt, he’ll also sing Ginastera’s Five Popular Argentinian Songs, Ben Moore’s settings of poems by Yeats and Joyce, and Damien Sneed’s contemporary settings of spirituals. The concert is at 8pm at 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd, FW. Tickets are $40. Call 817-332-8451.

FRIDAY • 30 We’ve never been the biggest fans of Jean-Pierre and Luc Dardenne and their in-your-face-realistic films, but their Two Days, One Night is one of their most accessible pieces, and an Oscar-nominated Marion Cotillard is very good indeed as a Belgian office worker suffering from depression who has one weekend to beg her co-workers to vote to save her job. The film runs Fri-Sun at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St, FW. Tickets are $7-9. Call 817-738-9215.

SATURDAY • 31 Chaim Potok’s novel My Name Is Asher Lev came out in 1972, and its story about a Hasidic Jew in the 1950s trying to reconcile his career as a painter with his religious upbringing struck a chord with a Jewish-American community torn between assimilation and tradition. Aaron Posner’s stage adaptation of the book (using only three actors) debuted in 2009, and now Circle Theatre brings it to North Texas Thu thru Mar 7 at 230 W 4th St, FW. Tickets are $10-30. Call 817-877-3040.

SUNDAY • 1 With In Real Life, Jubilee Theatre completes Charlayne Woodard’s trilogy of one-woman autobiographical plays detailing her middle-class origins and the start of her acting career. The troupe staged Pretty Fire in 2012 and Neat the following year, so it will be good to have Ebony Marshall-Oliver back on stage for the final chapter Fri thru Mar 1 at 506 Main St, FW. Tickets are $18-22. Call 817-338-4411.

MONDAY • 2 Baritone David Grogan joins the ensemble for TCU’s Faculty & Friends Chamber Music Series concert tonight. The program includes Samuel Barber’s Melodies Passagères, a song cycle with musical settings of poems by Rainer Maria Rilke. Also on the bill is a selection of songs by Carlos Guastavino, the late Argentinian composer whose lushly romantic works are just now starting to take their place in the repertoire. The concert is at 7pm at PepsiCo Recital Hall, 2800 S University Dr, FW. Tickets are $5-10. Call 817-257-7602.

TUESDAY • 3 They call themselves RongRong & inri, the married Chinese-Japanese couple who split time between their respective homelands and collaborate on black-and-white photographs. The Modern’s Focus exhibition takes in their series of pictures of the desolate winters in Japan’s Echigo-Tsumari area, the rapid urban development in Beijing, and portraits of their own family. The show runs Sat thru Apr 5 at 3200 Darnell St, FW. Admission is $4-10. Call 817-738-9215.
