Bill Nighy and Carey Mulligan have earned rave reviews in the U.K. for their performances in Skylight, a David Hare play about a wealthy restaurateur who drops in on his much-younger ex-girlfriend and finds her teaching school in one of London’s rougher neighborhoods. Now you can see a broadcast of this drama, which was written in the 1990s but has lost little of its relevance, at 2pm and 7pm at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St, FW. Tickets are $12-20. Call 817-923-3012.

When making his documentary For the Bible Tells Me So, Daniel Karslake interviewed members of five Christian families with gay children. He takes a similar approach with his new film Every Three Seconds, interviewing five people who each decided to take on the problem of hunger in America. He’ll be showing both films today at the Kimbell Art Museum as a fund-raiser for AIDS Outreach Center of Tarrant County’s nutrition center. The movies screen at 12:30pm at 3333 Camp Bowie Blvd, FW. Admission is $20 or $15 plus five canned food items. Call 817-332-8451.

We like to deplore “Christmas creep,” the phenomenon of holiday promotions taking place earlier and earlier in the year. Still, there’s something to be said for avoiding the December rush, and the Funky Finds Holiday Shopping Experience offers handmade crafts, designs, and food for that someone on your Christmas list who’ll appreciate it. The event runs Sat-Sun at Will Rogers Memorial Center, 3409 Burnett-Tandy Dr, FW. Admission is free.

Another TCU men’s basketball season is under way, but it’s not in the usual place. Tonight the male Horned Frogs face a Washington State team looking to improve on their dismal record last year. Tip-off is at 7pm at 5201 C.A. Roberson Blvd, FW. Tickets are $5-10. Elton John and Lee Hall’s musical version of Billy Elliot is a significant improvement on the 2000 movie it’s based on, about a working-class boy in England who wants to dance. The broadcast from London’s Victoria Palace Theater is at 7pm Wed & 1pm Sat & 7pm today at multiple theaters. Check Calendar for locations. Tickets are $16-18. Call 818-761-6100.
