Verdi’s original opera version of Macbeth had the Scottish usurper sing a final aria after being mortally wounded by Macduff, but eventually the composer decided that that was too silly and returned to Shakespeare’s conception, with Macbeth killed offstage. The encore broadcast of this opera (with Anna Netrebko as Lady Macbeth) kicks off another season of broadcasts from the Metropolitan Opera. The show starts at 6:30pm at various theaters. Check Calendar for showtimes. Tickets are $16-24.
