Dallas Cowboys had a bye week. The weather was beautiful. Sunday was a perfect day for outdoor fun.
Unless you worked your fingers to the bone all week long and partied hard on Saturday night and just wanted to spend Sunday as a couch tater.
So I turned on the TV midway through the Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Baltimore Ravens game and, lo and behold, Flozell Adams was being called for a holding penalty.
I didn’t even know Flozell was playing for the Steelers. The Cowboys released him in spring and that was the last I heard of him. As it turns out, the Steelers lost a starting lineman and signed Flo two months ago and put him in the lineup.
For the previous five years, Flo had been the second most penalized player in the NFL while with the Cowboys. Holding, tripping, false starts, cheap shots, he didn’t discriminate.
As it turns out, Flo is popular in Iron City. His teammates and coaches are praising his blocking and work ethic, and the Steelers are 3-1
Still, the Cowboys did the right thing to let him go, especially now that we have Alex Barron on the team. Oh wait, Barron is the only guy who gets penalized more than Flo.
Barron was penalized three times in the Cowboys season opener, including a hold that wiped out the game winning touchdown.
Barron hasn’t been or seen or heard from since. Can we trade him for Flo?
Why don’t we just resign Flozell so we can trade both of them for one good offensive lineman!
