Well, tiny DISH is making the big time. Not quite Broadway, but DISH Mayor Calvin Tillman has taken off for upstate New York to school residents of three counties in the Marcellus Shale on what they can expect–negatively–from natural gas drilling, and what can be done by the drillers to lessen those negative impacts with responsible drilling.
Mayor Tillman left on Monday, Feb. 15, and will be in New York through Feb. 21. His experience and that of the residents of his town should prove enlightening to people who are still in love with the words “mailbox money”.
At the same time Tillman is out educating, Governor Rick Perry is dumbing down–if that’s possible. As reported in the Star-Telegram, Perry, along with AG Greg Abbott and Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples announced on Tuesday, February 16, that Texas has filed a lawsuit against the federal Environmental Protection Agency to stop the EPA from enforcing its new regulations concerning carbon dioxide emissions. The suit was filed with the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
Seems Perry et al, are concerned that reducing the emissions of poison will be bad for Texas business. Also seems like he doesn’t believe in greenhouse gases or climate change. Or that the reduction of carbon dioxide might be good for the health of Texans.
Ah, Governor…seems like that hair gel, while good for your hair, is making slush of your brain.
Calvin Tillman is a joke and I hope in the next election he will be voted out. Going to New York is bull crap.
He has the Little Man complex and wears a badge so he thinks he is a bad dude. What a joke.

If you don’t want him, we in the Marcellus Shale sure do. In an audience of both pro- and anti-drilling folks, he received a standing ovation.
His no-nonsense suggestions to our elected officials were well-received. We hope several of his ideas will help us protect ourselves from abuse of our water, land and air.
Maybe what you intended to suggest is that he has, “The Little People” complex: he believes more in the little people and in protecting their interests than he does those who wield corporate power?
That must be it.
His manner was so engaging and civil, no matter an audience member’s position — time and time again — I saw remarkable levels of engagement and civility.
You are so lucky to have him.
And like him, “I have received no money for my words, thoughts and ideas.”
