The ground shifts under you in The Other Place, Sharr White’s 2011 play about a brilliant neurologist who is convinced that she’s gravely ill. As she talks to her doctor, we gradually start to doubt some of the basic things this protagonist tells us about her life. Circle Theatre now brings this acclaimed play to Fort Worth tonight thru May 24 at 230 W 4th St, FW. Tickets are $10-30. Call 817-877-3040.

Insatiable Infatuation with Violence is not the title of Quentin Tarantino’s next movie but rather a new play at Sundown Collaborative Theatre. Conceived by Paul Vaughn, the show was co-created by its actors as the story of a woman seeking justice for her murdered brother and dealing with the after-effects of the killing. The play runs today thru May 11 at Green Space Arts Collective, 529 Malone St, Denton. Tickets are $8-10. Call 940-220-9302.

The pro-weed crowd just held the 4/20 event a few weeks ago, but with the movement to legalize marijuana gaining traction, maybe it’s not too soon for the Global Marijuana March to take place. Spoonfed Tribe, The Effinays, and Panic Volcanic will be among the bands providing music for the event noon-8pm outside Mambo’s Tapas Cantina, 1010 Houston St, FW. Admission is free. Refer to HearSay on page 36 for more details.

If you’ve never seen Akira Kurosawa’s Ran on the big screen, now’s your chance. Based on Shakespeare’s King Lear (with a title that translates to “Chaos”), his Japanese epic is resplendent in its use of color and horrifying in its depiction of the large-scale violence brought on by war and by an old man’s foolishness. The film screens as part of ArthouseFW at 2pm at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St, FW. Tickets are $5-7. Call 817-924-6000.

MON ▪ 5

A lush combination of old-school blues and 1970s orchestral rock, A.J. Vincent’s atmospheric music has enough odd corners to catch the attention. The artist will mark the release of his new album, Thief of Fire, at 8pm at Lola’s Saloon, 2736 W 6th St, FW. Admission is $8. Call 817-877-0666.

Oh, man. The documentary Irreplaceable is produced by Focus on the Family and purports to explore how modern culture is devaluing the importance of families. We smell a “gay marriage is evil” message here, but we could very well be wrong. You can find out whether we are for a relatively low price and perhaps plan some sort of response if that is indeed the message. The film screens at 7pm at various movie theaters. Check Calendar for locations. Tickets are $5.
