At our third annual Visionary Awards tonight, we’ll honor three local artists who have made our fair city’s culture more interesting (see cover story). Plus, Fritz Rahr, chairman and founder of Rahr & Sons Brewing Company, will chose the winner of our Rahr Visionary Brew label-design contest, and Fort Worth space-rockers Skeleton Coast will perform. Doors open at 6pm at Artspace 111, 111 Hampton St, FW. Tickets are $20 per person or $30 per couple and include food from Reata and booze. Call 817-321-9700.

When it comes to French music, some people think of Debussy and Bizet. Others, though, think of the luxurious pop stylings of Serge Gainsbourg and Jacques Brel. If you’re in the latter camp, Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra has what you want as Sarah Hicks conducts a tribute to French music of the past century Fri-Sun at Bass Performance Hall, 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $27-79. Call 817-665-6000.

SAT ▪ 23

Is it us, or are fewer galleries participating in Gallery Night these days? There are still lots of things to see, from the sculpture show at William Campbell to Gallery 414’s exhibit of non-print works by artists who usually turn out prints. Plus, there are free noshes and drinks as always. The event runs 11am-10pm. Check Calendar for locations and contact phone numbers.

SUN ▪ 24

What does it mean that so many new arts festivals are springing up around here? Two weeks ago we had the Magnolia Make Believe Art Festival, and now this week comes the unveiling of the Fort Worth Festival of the Arts. It’s another opportunity to see the wares of painters, sculptors, photographers, woodworkers, and other artisans, but it will take place Sat-Sun outside the Will Rogers Memorial Center, W Lancaster Av between Camp Bowie Blvd and Van Cliburn Way, FW. Admission is free. Call 631-421-1590.

MON ▪ 25

We can’t find much information on the musical version of The Hiding Place, based on an autobiography by Dutch anti-Nazi activist Corrie ten Boom. Indeed, the co-authors of the book themselves have yet to see it. We do know that Artisan Center Theater is opening the show this week, so we’ll see how this story of a watchmaker’s family who hid Jews from the occupying Germans fares on the stage. The show runs Mar 22-Apr 20 at Belaire Theater, 420 E Pipeline Rd, Hurst. Tickets are $14-18. Call 817-284-1200.

TUE ▪ 26

Someone sure is serious when she sings “I Won’t Grow Up.” Cathy Rigby turned 60 last year and is still playing the title role in Peter Pan. She’ll be taking more flights over the stage at Bass Hall when she brings her own personal touring production of the show to town this week. Peter Pan runs Mar 26-31 at 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $38.50-88. Call 817-212-4280.
