Brandon Wilhelm and Jovane Camaane star in Amphibian Stage Productions’ Gutenberg!

Wednesday 10 – The Met is broadcasting summer reruns of its past operas at select movie theaters, so now’s the time to catch their 2006 production of Il Barbiere di Siviglia, with Peter Mattei starring as Figaro and bel canto stars Joyce DiDonato and Juan Diego Flórez filling out the cast. The opera broadcasts at 1pm & 7pm only at Cinemark Ridgmar, 1888 Green Oaks Rd, FW. Tickets are $19-27. Call 817-566-0025.

Thursday 11 – The Thursday night film series at Sundance Square took last week off because of the holiday, but it returns this week with Crazy Rich Asians. Last summer’s crowd pleaser comes to us at a time when the weather here is hotter than it is in Singapore. (The difference is, the weather never gets much cooler in the southeast Asian city-state.) The film screens at 8:30pm at 4th & Main sts, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-255-5700.

Friday 12 – Amphibian Stage Productions had great success previously with Gutenberg! The Musical!, about two hapless songwriters pitching an idea for a musical show about the 15th century German inventor. The two-man show comes back this week, with updated references to Hamilton but the same songs and careless approach to history. The show runs today thru Aug 18 at 120 S Main St, FW. Tickets are $20-34. Call 817-923-3012.

Saturday 13 – Michael Che recently joked about the trend of goat yoga on Saturday Night Live: “The way it works is, it doesn’t.” Perhaps the addition of food and alcohol is what the combination needs. That’s what you’ll get at the Goat Yoga Brunch, which is taking place, fittingly enough, at Ripley’s Believe It or Not! at 9am at 601 E Palace Pkwy, Grand Prairie. Tickets are $30. Call 972-263-2391.

Sunday 14 – Before Hollywood had conceived of the idea of a “summer movie,” Alfred Hitchcock’s North by Northwest was one. Coming out 60 years ago this week, the thriller about an ordinary man caught up in an international espionage plot remains a crackling piece of entertainment for adults as well as teens. Lone Star Film Society screens the film at 7pm at Four Day Weekend Theater, 312 Houston St, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-924-6000.

Monday 15 – Grandpa Vanderhof says, “Don’t do anything that you don’t enjoy doing,” in You Can’t Take It With You, thus personifying the hippie ethos in a play written about 30 years before there were hippies. This Pulitzer Prize-winning comedy, a staple of repertory companies all over America, opens this week at Artisan Center Theater, playing Jul 12-Aug 17 at Belaire Theatre, 444 E Pipeline Rd, Hurst. Tickets are $12-24. Call 817-283-1200.

Tuesday 16 – Almost 20 years after its debut, Spy Kids retains its charm as a spy thriller for children. (The same can’t be said for the sequels that Robert Rodriguez did over the next decade.) Palace Arts Theater breaks this film out of storage for the kids who are off on summer break. The movie screens at 11am at 300 S Main St, Grapevine. Tickets are $6. Call 817-410-3185.
