You’ve probably only seen John Carptener’s 1982 remake of the 1951 sci-fi classic that’s screening at TCU tonight. Too bad. Howard Hawks and Christian Nyby’s The Thing From Another World stars Sheriff Matt Dillon himself, James Arness, and deftly blends noir with B-movie tropes (isolation, aliens, mistrust). Directed by playwright and UTA prof Natalie Gaupp, Three in One Room will be staged multiple times throughout April but is opening tonight at Arts Fifth Avenue. The Race for the Cure‘s annual 5K walk/run kicks off this morning in Sundance Square. The money raised by registration fees and charitable contributions helps fund programs such as low-cost mammograms, medical treatment, and education about warning signs, methods of early detection, and the latest treatment options for breast cancer.
