“Made in Italy” (by eight UTA students) is part of Frame 4 Frame at Arlington Museum of Art.

Wednesday 05 – The music and film components of the Frame 4 Frame Festival in Arlington won’t run for another couple of weeks, but you can go to the Arlington Museum of Art right now and check out their Frame 4 Frame exhibit, featuring art by Marilyn Jolly, Dennis Fung, and UTA art students. The show runs thru Nov 18 at 201 W Main St, Arlington. Admission is $5-8. Call 817-275-4600.

Thursday 06 – City Councilwoman Gyna Bivens hosts a special screening of Malcolm X: An Overwhelming Influence on the Black Power Movement, at Fort Worth Botanic Gardens. In this documentary, journalist A. Peter Bailey takes a road trip from Washington, D.C., to Alabama to rediscover the ideas of this brilliant and incisive thinker. The movie starts at 7pm at 3220 Botanic Garden Blvd, FW. Admission is free.

Friday 07 – John Williams wrote some of the best music of his career for the 1978 flick Superman, and Christopher Nolan’s trio of Batman films would be considerably diminished without the music of Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra pays tribute to their efforts with Superhero Soundtrack, a series of concerts dedicated to these films. Wearing costumes is encouraged, and one concert is just for kids. The performances run today thru Sun at Bass Performance Hall, 555 Commerce St, FW. Tickets are $15-100. Call 817-665-6000.

Saturday 08 – What do Hatch chiles go best with? Eggs? Enchiladas? Seafood? Beer? Various chefs will make their own dishes out of the green pepper from our west at the Roasted Hatch Green Chile Fest. If you’re not into Hatches, there will be live music by The Sutcliffes, Kim Nall, and the Norris Swing Band – and consider yourself warned about the Hatch coffee. The event starts at noon at Dan’s Silverleaf, 103 Industrial St, Denton. Admission is free. Call 940-320-2000.

Sunday 09 – A.A. Milne was the first writer to adapt The Wind in the Willows to the stage, but he was by no means the last, and he certainly didn’t do it up like Hip Pocket Theatre will. The troupe launches the world premiere of John Murphy’s adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s beloved children’s book, so Mole, Rat, Mr. Toad, and Mr. Badger will live again in Hip Pocket’s inimitable fashion Fri thru Sep 30 at 1950 Silver Creek Dr, FW. Tickets are $5-20. Call 817-246-9775.

Monday 10 – Satoshi Kon’s first film, Perfect Blue, doesn’t have the wild flights of fancy of his later movies, but its story about a J-pop singer who aspires to an acting career and is stalked by a crazed, violent fan shows us what a visionary the film world lost when this Japanese director died of cancer in 2010. For the movie’s 20th anniversary, it will screen in both Japanese-language and English-dubbed versions at 7pm Thu and today at various movie theaters. Check Calendar for locations. Tickets are $12.50. Call 818-761-6100.

Tuesday 11 – Famously, in the Pixar film WALL-E, the robot in the title spends his time watching the plodding 1968 film version of Hello, Dolly!, which did little justice to the stage musical that swept the Tony Awards. Of all Jerry Herman’s musicals, it seems to have stood the test of time best, having been repeatedly revived. Now Casa Mañana stages the show Sat thru Sep 16 at 3101 W Lancaster Av, FW. Tickets are $49-69. Call 817-332-2272.
