Wednesday 19 – Simon Curtis’ My Week With Marilyn screens at Arlington Museum of Art this evening in conjunction with the Milton Greene photography exhibit. It may not be the best as a movie, but you can see future Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne and future megastar Emma Watson popping up amid the Oscar-nominated performances by Michelle Williams and Kenneth Branagh. Thursday 20 – It has been 25 years since Angels in America premiered at Britain’s National Theatre. To mark the occasion, the troupe has mounted the production anew with Andrew Garfield as Prior Walter and Nathan Lane as Roy Cohn. You can see this stage performance broadcast at your local movie theater, with Millennium Approaches this week and Perestroika next week. Friday 21 – The Mayborn Literary Nonfiction Conference may have a steep entry fee, but how else will you get to personally meet luminaries like Sebastian Junger (author of The Perfect Storm) or Katherine Boo (who wrote Behind the Beautiful Forevers)? Saturday 22 – Reviews have been mixed about The Hero, but everyone seems taken with Sam Elliott’s performance as an aging cowboy actor who’s terminally ill and taking a road trip with a stand-up comic (Laura Prepon) to reconcile with his estranged daughter (Krysten Ritter). The movie is already playing in Southlake and Grapevine, but you can see it Fri-Sun at the Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth, 3200 Darnell St, FW. Tickets are $7-9. Call 817-738-9215.

Sunday 23 – At the time of its release 15 years ago, Devdas was the most expensive Hindi movie ever made and was an enormous hit inside and outside India, its tragic love story making stars out of Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai. For its anniversary, this three-hour epic filled with musical numbers comes back into theaters. Screenings are at 2pm & 7pm at various movie theaters; check Calendar for locations. Monday 24 – Before he goes off to Switzerland to compete for the Vendome Prize at the Verbier International Music Festival, pianist Sam Hong stops off at Steinway Hall to give us a taste of what he’ll be performing in the Alps, with a recital containing music by Beethoven, Chopin, and Leon Kirchner, the late American composer. Tuesday 25 – Baseball’s trading deadline comes next week, and the Texas Rangers are facing down the decision whether to load up for a playoff push or sell assets and start rebuilding. In the Miami Marlins, they’re facing an opponent in a similar situation. Will Giancarlo Stanton still be with them when they come to town? Stay tuned.
