Having starred in the Broadway version of Rock of Ages (and getting a cameo in the movie version), Constantine Maroulis now comes to Dallas to headline Jekyll & Hyde. Frank Wildhorn’s glossy musical adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novel is in North Texas to prep for a Broadway run. With Quentin Tarantino set to give us another surreal, violent fantasia for Christmas, local movie theaters are looking back on his earlier work. The 20th anniversary showing of Reservoir Dogs took place a few days ago, and now Pulp Fiction comes back to the screen for one night. UNT alumna Nefin Dinç returns to her school from her native Turkey, bringing The Other Town, her documentary about the warming but still fractured relations between Turkey and Greece. The film views the conflict through the eyes of people living in two neighboring towns on either side of the border. A heavy lineup of documentary films awaits you at A Day of Film and Reflection, part of the Movies That Matter series that usually runs at Fort Worth Library but today moves to Rose Marine Theater. The movies on offer today focus on human trafficking (Nefarious: Merchant of Souls), Muslim “honor killings” (Two Sides of the Moon), and peace efforts around a holy Israeli city (Little Town of Bethlehem). For all the classical guitar events in Fort Worth, you’ve probably never heard an eight-string guitar before. Swedish guitarist Mårten Faulk will play the second half of his program on one, featuring mostly Russian composers who wrote for the seven-stringed Russian guitar, including Andrei Sychra, that instrument’s attributed inventor.
