The idea of the U.S. military deploying German Jews to fight against the Nazis during World War II isn’t just a subplot from Inglourious Basterds but something that in fact happened. The Dallas Holocaust Museum pays tribute to these undercover agents who went behind enemy lines in its current exhibit Ritchie Boys: Secret Heroes of World War II. Only in Texas could a fund-raiser entitled Big Guns in Cowtown attract no controversy in the wake of the Colorado shootings. The gala for the Fort Worth Police Department features a display of Beretta shotguns, as well as hors d’oeuvres, drinks, cigars, and a raffle. Tandy Cronyn, the daughter of actors Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy, comes to UNT this weekend for the world premiere of The Tall Boy. Simon Bent’s play, written for a single actress, is about a woman re-telling her experiences tending to a European camp for displaced children in the aftermath of World War II.
