THU ▪ 5

Joe Orton’s final play, What the Butler Saw, is a statement about the absurdity of categorizing people as sane or mad. However, it can be difficult to discern the message through the play’s hijinks at an insane asylum where the doctors seem in worse shape than the patients. Stage West will try to do justice to the message and the madcappery in its production, which runs Jul 5-Aug 5 at 821 W Vickery St, FW. Tickets are $15-30. Call 817-784-9378.

FRI ▪ 6

How do you evoke the vastness of the open sea and Captain Ahab’s quest to take down the white whale on the small stage at Hip Pocket Theatre? The troupe will endeavor to find an answer when it stages Lake Simons’ adaptation of Moby Dick Jul 6-29 at 1950 Silver Creek Dr, FW. Tickets are $8-15. Call 817-246-9775.

High summer is the perfect time to get top-quality berries and stone fruits for making fruit salad, chutney, jam, or many other tasty dishes. (Night & Day is currently experimenting with cold soups.) A great place to get those is at the Summer Harvest Festival, which goes on this morning at Cowtown Farmers Market. The event runs 8am-noon at 3821 Southwest Blvd, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-821-3124.

SUN ▪ 8

Todd Hart’s stage adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland for Theatre Arlington reportedly includes multiple actors playing all the roles (including Alice) and even a rap number. Sounds better than that Tim Burton movie version. The show runs Jul 6-15 at 305 W Main St, Arlington. Tickets are $10. Call 817-275-7661.

MON ▪ 9

The Bacon Wagon, Fred’s Truck Wagon, Salsa Limón, and Red Jett Sweets will have their mobile kitchens up at Food Truck Day, a celebration of the latest food fad that takes place at the National Cowgirl Museum. Nicely timed for the lunch crowd, the trucks will be there 11am-3pm at 1720 Gendy St, FW. Admission is free. Call 817-336-4475.

Admission is free. Call 817-921-2111.
