Gay Bingo FW might think it was the first to put the “gay” in “Beach Blanket Gay Bingo,” the theme for the September edition of its game night. But in fact, that distinction went to the endlessly watchable Paul Lynde, who lent his foppish, snickering charm to the 1965 bikini epic starring Frankie and Annette.
Never mind – hostess Candi Carol has the right beach balls to preside over the entertainment and cash prizes at this Friday’s (September 10) 6pm game at Hotel Trinity. And just for the hell of it – here’s a great sketch with Dean Martin and Paul Lynde on a late ‘60s episode of Martin’s variety show.
