Lots of Fort Worth artists will be making the scene at the 2010 SXSW Music Festival in Austin from Wed., March 17, until Sun., March 21 –– and a lot of them will be performing. In addition to 817-related artists selected to play SXSW-sanctioned showcases –– Best Fwends, Complete, Jessie Frye, and Telegraph Canyon –– lots of 817-related bands –– The Orbans, Fungi Girls, Collin Herring, The Frontier Brothers, and more –– are playing non-sanctioned showcases.
The most Fort Worth-tastic show will be a free, non-sanctioned, all-day affair on Fri., March 19, at Dominican Joe Coffee Shop on South Congress Avenue. Maybe influenced by one of our recent Last Call columns, Fort Wizard is the name of the event and will feature The Orbans, The Burning Hotels, Chatterton, Whiskey Folk Ramblers, Rivercrest Yacht Club, Tony Ferraro (Eaton Lake Tonics, Bob Fante), Fate Lions, Goodwin, Quaker City Nighthawks, some non-Fort Worth artists, and possibly a couple of other Fort Worth artists, including EPIC RUINS, depending on whether or not drummer Jordan Richardson can squeeze in a show between playing seemingly non-stop with Ben Harper as part of the guitarist’s Relentless 7.

Holy Moly is swinging through Austin as part of our tour that day–who is the organizer for Fort Wizard? We’d love to join in the fun.
Hey, Jeremy. Talk to Kevin Aldridge (Chatterton). E-mail me at anthony.mariani@fwweekly.com, and I’ll give you his cell number. Cheers.
Thanks Anthony–I gave him a call. Appreciate it!
