JIM MORRISON OF THE DOORS IGNORED WARNING SIGNS AND SUCCUMBED TO THE DEPRAVITY AND DEATH OFTEN LINKED TO THE ROCK 'N' ROLL LIFESTYLE.

The video below makes it clear why Texas Christian University is sliding off a moral precipice and plummeting into hell’s fiery clutches. After last week’s drug raid resulted in the arrest of four TCU football players, one has to look at the team’s top leader, Coach Gary Patterson. His affinity for the devil’s music — rock ‘n’ roll — appears to be the root cause of this prestigious institution’s downfall.

Not since the Beatles hit America in 1964 and shattered our society’s moral compass has there been such an egregious display of wanton disregard for this nation’s principles. Patterson might think it’s okay to grow his hair long and play Loggins and Messina songs with reckless abandon, but that lack of self-discipline has obviously filtered down to his players.

Patterson must go. TCU must fire him. He’ll self-destruct anyway (a la Morrison, Janis Joplin, Kurt Cobain, and Whitney Houston), but, by God, don’t let him drag down the entire team and university with him.

Here’s Patterson thumbing his nose at decency during a recent visit with Fort Worth musician JT Hodges.

  1. You have GOT to be kidding me.. are you SERIOUS?? Let’s not place blame on the idiots who are doing the drugs, let’s just blame anyone with a position of leadership.. He is just a football coach. he’s not their parent. or babysitter. Punish the kids for being morons and doing/selling the drugs. If you’re gonna go after the coach, why not just go after the campus president? or hell, the entire faculty.. after all they are to blame also for not knowing the ins and outs of the lives of the thousands of students there.. cause that is in their job description.. idiot.

  2. Jeff, you should refrain from practicing in the sordid tradition of literary nobodies such as Charles Dickens, Mark Twain, and Ben Franklin. Satire, obviously, doesn’t sell. (Oh, wait. We’re a free paper.) (Satire!)

  3. I’m trying to figure out how you have a job after writing this article. Rich kids get busted doing drugs and you place the blame on the coach for it. I could blame coaches, teachers anyone when my kids mess up. Ya, right the only one to blame is them. They are not kids they are old enough to no better. And Music has nothing to do with any of this. Maybe if those kids would have been playing music they wouldn’t of had time to sell drugs. JT Hodges went to TCU and I’m sure he got a kick out of singing with the Coach.

  4. These unbelievably non-ironic comments have to be part of a nefarious ploy by the Startlegram or the Observer to undermine the Weekly’s credibility, creating the impression that our readers are not hip, well-educated tastemakers but actually Martians and/or from the year 1100. Well played, competitors. Well played.

  5. So sad – some people have the ability to read, but not to comprehend what they read, beyond the building blocks.

Thanks to Anthony Mariani – now I’m going to have images of Martians in Ren Faire garb stuck in my head until I drink them out. (Marvin the Martian, at that!)

  6. It’s sarcasm, folks. He’s mocking the investigation and the problem with an absurd over-the-top tirade in the manner of typical public tirades, attempting to place the blame on someone other than those involved. Does no one have any critical thinking skills left?
