I love books about the Old West because they put me in a happy time warp. I wish I could have lived back then. I’d have been a riverboat gambler…or a gunfighter…or a sheriff…or a hooker with a heart of gold…or probably just a hooker.
The next best thing is Gunsmoke on the Brazos in Granbury this weekend.
This family friendly event includes Western reenactments, live entertainment, games, raffles, a stick horse rodeo, and cow lot bingo. The weather should be just about perfect to saddle up and on mosey on down there, pilgrim.
The free event is 8 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. An outdoor concert at 6 pm Saturday is $15 at the door.
The event is at Hewlett Park, 620 E. Pearl St.
