Near the Fairmount neighborhood on the Near South Side, several entertainment establishments will join together to form The Village on Magnolia. Only one of the prospective five, Shinjuku Station, is open. The rest –– BREWED, Live Oak Music Hall & Lounge, The Therapy Lounge, and The Wine Bar –– are still in development. The establishments intend to group-promote, though each space is unique: Shinjuku offers exceptional Japanese fare (“Next Stop? Shinjuku Station,” Sep 21, 2011); BREWED will be a place for specialty coffees and beers; Live Oak is a venue that will focus on touring musical acts; Therapy, by all accounts, may resemble the nearby Usual (elegant, sophisticated, ultra-lounge-y); and The Wine Bar will offer more than 30 wines by the glass, various specialty beers by the bottle, and a large selection of wines by the bottle.
“Though still under construction,” the group says in a press release, “The Village wants to give the city a feel for who they are.”
For the upcoming block party that is Fall Arts Goggle (Sat, Oct 8), The Village has solicited the musical talents of Cowboy & Indian, a band from a city 171 miles away called Austin.
