The killing of Public Enemy No. 1 created fresh admiration for the men and women who serve in the U.S. military.

About 15 people wearing U.S. Navy and Air Force uniforms walked into The Pour House yesterday to have lunch. A woman had just finished paying her bill and was about to leave, but instead she told the cashier to add another $100 on her credit card and apply it toward the military group’s meal.

The bill turned out to be $150, and Pour House owner Eric Tschetter comped the $50 balance.

“It was the day after Osama bin Laden was shot so I’m sure she was thanking them for their service,” Tschetter said. “I did it for the same reason. We appreciate everything they do for us.”

More appreciation is coming next Saturday night (May 14) when La Familia hosts a celebration for the Fort Worth soldiers stationed at  Camp Eggers in Kabul, Afghanistan.
