Tareka Lofton is locally known for her Tissue Paper Cakes (each shaped like a toilet paper roll) that brought a bit of humor to a stressful year. The owner and pastry chef of Loft22 Cakes (106 E Daggett Av, 682-841-1771) said the loss of most of her wedding cake business was saved by a swell of local support for her creative and delicious pastries.
Her popular Tissue Paper Cakes are still for sale, she said, and a new line of cakes will soon be available across the country. This year has been difficult for small businesses like Loft22 Cakes, so show your support by stopping by for a cupcake or her famed butterscotch banana pudding.
