The way that Army’s college football team has played over the last two seasons has had people saying it’s one of the best Army teams they’ve seen in quite some time and a reminder that West Point used to be one of America’s best college football programs, turning out Heisman winners on a regular basis. The Black Knights may be disappointed at being relegated to the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl for the second straight year, after a season in which they almost took down Oklahoma, but you won’t be disappointed to see them back here for bowl season.
Their triple-option offense will be up against the University of Houston. Some of the air has gone out of the matchup after the Cougars announced they would be without quarterback D’Eriq King (who’s hurt) and linebacker Ed Oliver (who’s preparing for the NFL draft). Still, they’re the first-place team from the AAC West. They’ll be eager to keep the Black Knights’ powerful offense on the sideline and try to thwart Army’s bid for its first-ever 11-win season. This bowl game still looks to be one of the more appealing of the 7,832 postseason games this year, and it’s happening at Amon Carter Stadium.
The Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl kicks off at 2:30pm Sat at Amon Carter Stadium, 2850 Stadium Dr, FW. Tickets are $30-125. Call 817-810-0012.
