Welcome to the NFC East, the NFL’s version of four eunuchs fighting over a condom. The collective incompetence of the New York Giants, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the Washington Racist Nicknames have kept the Dallas Cowboys in the playoff hunt until this week, but barring a late Cowboys resurgence and a wildly improbable series of events in the games involving those three other teams, this injury- and Greg Hardy-cursed season for the home side is done. You can watch it (likely) peter out this Saturday, when the Cowboys gear up to face the New York Jets and salvage some pride at least from this season in front of the home crowd.
The 8-5 Jets come in with some playoff hopes of their own, though they haven’t beaten any good teams this year. (If they win on Saturday, they still won’t have.) The receiving tandem of Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker has made quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick look halfway decent, and the defense is led by fearsome pass rusher Muhammad Wilkerson and all-time great cover corner Darrelle Revis. Come to AT&T Stadium to see a visiting team making hay out of a soft schedule or the nonzero chance of fourth-choice quarterback Kellen Moore doing something good with the Cowboys offense. The 2016 season awaits.
Dallas Cowboys vs. New York Jets kicks off at 7:30pm at AT&T Stadium, 1 Legends Way, Arlington. Tickets are $75-500. Call 800-745-3000.
