Turtles have been all over the news lately. The story of a turtle that survived in a box for 30 years made the social media rounds earlier this week. The country is still recovering from the turtle smuggling ring that was broken up in Detroit. And of course, millions of parents across the county lost two hours of their lives suffering through the recent Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot.
The Turtle Survival Alliance, a Fort Worth-based non-profit focused on saving turtles around the world, has teamed up with a local brewery to capitalize on the reptile’s sudden popularity.
In October, Fort Worth-based Martin House Brewing Company will launch a new beer, Turtle Power, to bring awareness to the plight of endangered turtles.
The Turtle Power beer is a blackberry altbier, which, according to a press release, was chosen because apparently turtles like blackberries. The beer will be unleashed on Fort Worth on Friday, Oct. 3 at 5pm at the Flying Saucer.
