Legendary blues singer and guitar-slinger Robert Cray headlines Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival this weekend.

Shake a giant turkey leg. It’s time for Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival. There will be art, yes. A lot of it. Enough to fill huge swaths of downtown. Inside the festival’s Magnificent Mile will be all kinds of creative objets: ceramics, jewelry, glass, metalwork, leather, painting, sculpture, wood, printmaking, fiber, you name it.

But we all know that Main St. is more than just art. There’s also always a ton of live music. Along with 2014 headliners Robert Cray, The Mavericks and Raul Malo, Mingofishtrap, Eddie Palmieri, and Bob Schneider, there’ll be performances by the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Fort Worth Opera, Van Cliburn gold medalist Vadym Kholodenko, and a smattering of local rockers, including Fort Worth’s Luke Wade & No Civilians and Poo Live Crew and Dallas’ Larry g(EE).

Main St. is also about stuffing your face. The food will be provided by Reata Restaurant, Riscky’s Barbecue, Woolley’s Frozen Custard, Little German Kitchen, and Schakolad Chocolate Factory, among others. Your modes of cold, refreshing adult beverages will include tallboys (Coors Banquet and Coors Light); longnecks (Schlitz, Tecate, Labatt Blue, Molson Canadian, Rahr Texas Red, and more); and drafts (Coors Light, Rahr, Shiner Bock, Stella Artois, Blue Moon, Fat Tire, Dos Equis, and more). There also will be vino.

And be sure to bring the kiddos. At Main St., they can climb rock walls, create sand sculptures, make bead necklaces or birds out of air-dried clay, and just generally go nuts.
