The Texas Supreme Court has decided to hear the lawsuit filed by John Basham and Texans for Government Transparency against the Tarrant Regional Water District.

The court told the water district to file a response to the plaintiffs’ writ of injunction by the end of the week.

Basham sued the water board after its members voted to move elections to an odd year, which, in effect, would add an extra year to the elected officials’ four-year terms.

“The fact that the Court only gave the TRWD two days to file shows that they have some questions about how the TRWD has been operating,” said attorney Christopher Kratovil. “We now have the attention of the Texas Supreme Court.”
