If you missed last weekend’s 8th Annual Prairie Fest, don’t cry in your organic whole grain cereal.

Crackerjack photographers are usually milling about and capturing the beauty and grace found in such abundance at this popular event.

How many other free events in town do you know of that offer live music, use only solar power, and refuse money from potential sponsors that they don’t like, such as the oil and gas drilling companies that like to plaster their names over everything.

Friends of the Tandy Hills Natural Area hosts the event each year to introduce residents to the oft-overlooked prairie park that’s east of downtown.

Event founder Don Young, of course, is always present with his camera, capturing the beauty of the wildflowers that pop up at this time of year.
