Two Fort Worth singer-songwriters were among the seven finalists appearing in the Rusty Wier Songwriting Contest that wrapped up on Sunday in Dallas after a weeks-long competition.

Neither Cowtown crooner took home the grand prize.

But Phil Wallace and Scott Copeland deserve kudos for making it so far into the contest that traditionally draws a talented crop of contestants.

Wallace finished in second place.

He was edged out by winner Mark Shelton of Oklahoma.

KHYI-95.3 “The Range” deejay Brett Dillon oversees the event, which is now in its third year.
