With a presidential election coming up, the universities are holding a bunch of lectures and talks designed to capitalize on the uptick of interest in politics. The Fogelson Honors Forum at TCU features Ari Fleischer, press secretary under President George W. Bush, and Paul Begala, aide to President Bill Clinton. They will, we hope, shed some light on the current political picture. The event is at 6:30pm at Ed Landreth Auditorium, 2800 S University Dr, FW. Admission is free, but tickets are required. Call 817-257-7215.

Reportedly, the late Etta James saw Beyoncé portray her in the 2008 film Cadillac Records and left unimpressed with her singing. Fortunately, Sheran Keyton won’t have to worry about such matters when she stars in Simply Etta, a one-woman show based on the legendary R&B singer’s life and career. We know she’ll give credible accounts of James’ songs. The show runs Oct 5-14 at Pantagleize Theatre, 1115 S Main St, FW. Tickets are $15-20. Call 817-313-3052.
