MONDAY'S TARRANT & TEXAS SECTION OF THE FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM.

Fort Worth Star-Telegram layoffs in recent years means fewer writers and copy editors doing more work, and that can mean mistakes.

Take Monday’s edition — The Section B banner story is “Texas’ 2011 overtime bill: $122 million” by Yank Wang and Terri Langford of the Houston Chronicle.

Yank Wang?

Really?

Apparently not.

A Star-Telegram correction in today’s edition: Yang Wang is a staff writer for the Houston Chronicle. Her name was misspelled Monday in the byline of an article about overtime paid to state employees.

“Many state health department psychiatric nursing assistants also earned close to their annual pay or more in overtime. Carrie Williams, spokeswoman for the Texas Department of State Health Services, told the newspaper that almost all of the $7.3 million in overtime the agency paid out in 2011 went to employees working in mental health hospitals.”
