In my experience, there are two types of vinyl collectors ––– ponytailed fifty-year-old dudes with one earring, jeans, tennis shoes, and original King Crimson tour t-shirts; and mop-haired twenty-year-old dudes with two earrings, tennis shoes, (skinny) jeans, and original (Ebay-purchased) King Crimson tour t-shirts. (Yes, there are also women collectors and those in other age groups, but journalists deal in easy generalizations). Tonight (Mon July 2) 5-10pm is the first monthly Vinyl Night at Avoca Coffee (1311 W Magnolia, FW); all participants are encouraged to bring records to swap, sell, and admire. Let’s hope the generational divide is crossed without too much grousing from both sides.
