When push comes to shove, one thing most Americans can come together for is free speech –– we might not like what the other side is saying, but we’ll usually grudgingly defend their right to say it. A really big First Amendment web rally is happening tonight (Mon Mar 12) in Fort Worth. A large bunch of writers, artists, poets, authors, and academics –- many of them Latino — will read from their favorite banned books in support of The Librotraficante Caravan, a national protest against Arizona’s draconian state laws that essentially ban many Latino cultural studies programs. The Fort Worth readings will be broadcast 7:30pm tonight on the Ustream website.
