This Saturday night (Nov 12) at 8pm, Arts Fifth Avenue will host a must-see evening of live jazz called Joe Rogers: Old & New. Composer-bandleader-keyboardist Rogers is probably best known nowadays for his work as musical director over at Jubilee Theatre, but he’s been writing original jazz material for almost 40 years now. Old & New will showcase a selection of his favorite tunes, with a special emphasis on newer compositions. Besides boasting a full jazz band with horns that includes some of Rogers’s longtime collaborators, the evening features Jubilee veterans Sheran Keyton and Major Attaway as marquee guest vocalists. Tickets are $15, and I’d guess this one will sell out fast.
