Fort Worth native T Bone Burnett seems to be everywhere. His latest musical collaboration with Academy Award winning actor Jeff Bridges has resulted in an album — “Jeff Bridges” — to be released on August 16. (Coincidentally, or maybe not, that’s the date that Elvis died in 1977.)
Bridges proved he could play guitar and sing a mean country song during Crazy Heart (2009).
Burnett isn’t starstruck when working with Bridges — they’ve been friends for 30 years and, besides, Burnett has won his own Academy Award and a dozen Grammy awards to boot.
The CD’s track list includes songs written by another Fort Worth native done good — the late guitarist and singer-songwriter Stephen Bruton (“What A Little Bit Of Love Can Do” and “Nothing Yet”).

On a side note: Bridges also recorded songs by Greg Brown (“Blue Car”) and Bo Ramsay (“Either Way”). I watched Brown and Ramsay perform together at Poor David’s Pub a few months ago. Brown is a world-class songwriter and performer who rarely tours down in these parts. Ramsay plays a simple but killer slide guitar. Together they’re tough to beat in a live show. If you ever get a chance to see them, do it.

Is that the same Greg Brown who’s been on Prairie Home Companion for many years?
Yep, that’s the same Greg Brown.
