Dallas Cowboys running back Marion “The Barbarian” Barber continues his slow and painful fall from grace.

Last month, I blogged that Barber was a shell of his former self as a player, a growing pain in the ass in the locker room, a conceited showboat who celebrates every two-yard gain like he’d just won the Super Bowl, and an athlete who phoned in performances after signing a big contract.

He used to run like a barbarian. Now he runs like a barber — from now on I’m calling him Marion “The Barber” Barber.

But at least in Beverly Hills they think he still deserves his Barbarian nickname.

The TMZ gossip site reported yesterday that Barber was detained by police and questioned about disturbing the peace at a Beverly Hills hotel.

And the piling on continues…Dallas Morning News columnist Bob Sturm today put Barber atop the list of “Five Dallas Cowboys Who Won’t Be Back In 2011.

In the Bible, Samson lost his strength after his hair was cut. The opposite is happening to Barber — he’s losing his strength as his hair grows longer.

  1. Lay off of Barber.

He’s a true blue guy and a hard runner who has been dealing with injury issues the past couple of years. He will be back strong this year.
