Here I sit, staring at my screen, ready to skewer something or somebody with my daily dose of blog snark.
But I’m not myself.
Yesterday I was a Scorpio, my soul firmly entrenched in the astrological eighth house — an edgy, fiercely independent scorpion with a keyboard and a take-no-prisoners attitude.
But I awoke this morning to discover the earth’s been wobbling and the stars teetering for the past 2,000 years and the astrological signs are all out of whack.
My October birthday now makes me a Virgo. I don’t even know what a Virgo is.
Cafe Astrology says Virgo’s symbol is the virgin and “is often considered a shy lady-in-waiting personality that is a little naive.”
Like, OMG!!!!!
Astrology Insight lists my new positive traits as “modest and shy” and “intelligent and analytical.”
TMI, girlfriend! ; )
As a Scorpio my blog posts rarely involved modesty, shyness, intelligence or…uh…annalyticallness.
Now what am I supposed to blog about?
Well, here goes:
Kitties are adorable! I love how they purr and snuggle! Nothing’s better on a Sunday afternoon than to cozy up on a couch with a kitty in my lap while watching Sex and the City reruns and analyzing things!
It’s divine! : )
FORT WORTH ASTROLOGER EXPLAINS WESTERN ASTROLOGY
Fort Worth, TX – Fort Worth Astrologer, Urania, took numerous calls today from her clientele asking about the 13th zodiac sign that was announced on NBC today by an Astronomer.
“Astronomers and Astrologers look at the sky and the meaning of the stars in a completely different way,” says Urania, “so today’s announcement by an Astronomer, whom to my knowledge does not practice Astrology, will have no bearing on how Western Astrology is practiced,” says Urania, “in fact, Astrologers have known about, and used, Ophiuchus and other fixed stars for thousands of years.”
Western Astrology is based on a 12-fold division of the Ecliptic (the apparent path of the Sun around the Earth) which starts with the Vernal Equinox at 0 degrees Aries. Each sign in the Western Astrological chart is 30 degrees, however, each constellation by which the 12-sign Zodiac is based, are not necessarily exactly 30 degrees, which is why there is so much confusion. “The fixed constellation Ophiuchus falls into the first Decan (0-10 degrees) of Sagittarius in a Western Astrological chart, and is interpreted as appropriate in a reading,” she said. “There are many fixed stars in the Zodiac, but our Western system of Astrological interpretation has stood the test of time, including the scientific community’s demotion of Pluto, which Astrologers ignored.”
Vedic Astrology (also known as Jyotish) takes into account precession, which measures about 24 degrees forward of the Vernal Equinox used in Western Astrology. This measurement is called the Sidereal Zodiac. Thus if your Sun is at 1 degree Aries in a Western chart, it would fall at 6 degrees Pisces in a Vedic Chart. It’s simply a matter of interpretation.
“Much like translating English to French, or Mandarin to Arabic, Astrological interpretation assigns meaning of the movement of planets and stars to the human experience, based on thousands of years of observation,” she says. “Astrologers communicate meaning, while Astronomers communicate measurements. Astronomers are like car mechanics and Astrologers are like psychologists. The only thing we have in common is a love for stars, but I’m glad there is attention and discussion on Astrology,” said Urania, “It is much needed.”

FORT WORTH ASTROLOGER EXPLAINS ORIGINS OF HER NAME
January 14, 2011, Fort Worth, TX – Fort Worth Astrologer Urania, who practices from her home in the Fairmount Neighborhood, frequently gets questioned about the origins of her name.
“The name Urania, was the name of one of the nine muses, and in particular, Urania was the Muse of Astrology, Astronomy, Music and Number, ” says Urania. “I was inspired to adopt the name for use in my practice because I have had an affinity for these subjects my whole life.”
“I find that people jeer at the name until they understand what it means an where it comes from, then they get interested in Astrology and want to get a reading from me, so I really don’t mind,” she says “I actually find it a good name for business.”
To find out more about the name Urania and other Asteroids used in Astrology, a recommended book is “Asteroid Goddesses,” by Demetra George an d Douglas Bloch.
I thought Urania was plural and meant “multiple anuses.”
I was treated to a reading by Urania for my birthday
I was amazed at how much knowledge she had in the field of astrology.
I would highly recommend her to anyone who wanted a reading.

I was having some trouble with direction in my life.
I didn’t believe in astrology but decided to give Urania a try.
I was pretty surprised at how well it turned out.
As a non believer I have to say now I wonder what was standing in my way of understanding my life astrologically.
Barb

Urania/Jane/Barb/Lisa — OK, OK, enough with the testimonials already. We get it. Urania is the astrological goddess queen of Cowtown. Long may she live and divine our fates.
Welcome to Virgo-land, Jeff. It also spawns rabble rousers who lost their virginity long ago.
Urania has been my all time favorite Astrologer for several years now. She has helped me find conclusions in chapters of my life that I needed to leave behind, as well as allowing me to have a positive out look for the future. I would highly recommend her to anyone who would like to have a new perspective on life and ideas for the future!
