This week’s ”Stage” page features a cool conversation with Joe Sturgeon, Casa Manana’s director of children’s theater and the man responsible for the world premiere musical Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer – based not just on the jingle, but the awesome 1964 Rankin/Bass holiday show.
Since song snippets and quotes from the TV special are probably already popping into your head, here’s a smudgy but watchable online version. Also, here’s Chuck Berry’s eminently danceable version of “Run, Rudolph, Run.” Want to hear what is, in my opinion, the most annoying version of “Rudolph?” Then check out the Destiny’s Child treatment.
