This is pretty funny: A web security company called Webroot has created a Firefox plugin called ”The Social Media Sobriety Test.” It’s to prevent you from easily accessing various social media like Facebook and Twitter when you’re sloshed. Of course, if drunken status updates that trash the boss and harass an old flame have become a problem, then you should probably seek help beyond an opportunistic internet business.
Will this plugin work with “drunk Amazon shopping?” True story: I know a guy who went to a party where people were waxing nostalgic about favorite movies from their teenage years. When he got home, he staggered to the computer and spent over $100 on special edition DVDs of License to Drive, The Lost Boys, and The Goonies. Now sober, he’s got hours of commentary by the Coreys — Feldman and the late Haim — about their ‘80s masterpieces. (And no, the “he” in this story isn’t yours truly. The Coreys annoyed me from the start – may Haim rest in peace).
And stay away from eBay. I’m the proud owner of an autographed “Eat This, It’ll Make You Feel Better!” cookbook by Dom Deluise. I’m sure I thought it was a great idea at the time.
