If you missed our August cover story on the controversy over the locally filmed “transploitation” thriller Ticked-Off Trannies With Knives, here ‘tis again. Writer-director Israel Luna and several of the cast members are throwing a party for the movie’s DVD release this week; they’ll take questions and screen some of the “behind the scenes” footage from the DVD extras. The event happens tomorrow night (Tuesday November 9) 9-11:30pm at JR’s Bar and Grill, 3923 Cedar Springs Rd in Dallas.
At least half of the movie was shot in Tarrant County in 2009, so we’ve got the same bragging rights as Dallas, but c’est la vie. This may be your last chance to knock back a few with Bubbles Cliquot, Pinky La Trimm, and Tipper Sommore while they’re together in one place.
