The cable channel IFC has recently been airing reruns of the short-lived, much-loved 1999 TV show Freaks and Geeks. Paul Feig and Judd Apatow’s comedy about life in a suburban high school circa 1980 is chock full of classic rock tunes, classic rock t-shirts, laser dome light shows, awesome poster art, hippie guidance counselors, cool “smoking circle” friends, etc etc. It almost makes us want to open a smoke shop/gift boutique where we can hang out and bang our air sticks to the god that is John Bonham.
As this week’s “Hearsay” indicates, we don’t have to start our own business – – co-owners Chris Vitale and Elaine Burn are opening Feed Your Head, a little shop in the Tiffany Park Plaza at 3415 S Cooper St in Arlington. T-shirts, beads, posters, smoke accessories, incense, jewelry, and all that ’60s and ’70s good stuff will be available. Vitale and Burns hope to partner with Tarrant County musicians to sell local CDs and help publicize live shows in-store. Grand opening weekend for Feed Your Head begins tomorrow (November 4) 11am-8pm. Musicians can contact the store at 817-468-2029 or hempy@feedyourhead.biz.
The phrase “feed your head” of course comes from the Jefferson Airplane tune “White Rabbit.” Take it away, Grace and Marty.
Great addition to Arlington. I will have to check this place out.
Thanks for the mention, Jimmy! We do appreciate it! Stop in and say “hi”!
