Driving on Jacksboro Highway has been a pain lately because of a repaving job that seems to be dragging on for weeks.
But the 10 extra minutes it takes to traverse that Fort Worth roadway ain’t jack compared to the 10-day traffic jam that’s clogging China.
Road construction in Beijing has traffic backed up bumper to bumper for 60 miles, and relief won’t come for a few more weeks. At one point, traffic was moving a half-mile per day, and yet there was no report of road rage.
Either media reports are being manipulated, or the Chinese people are extremely self-controlled. I can’t imagine an American sitting in a traffic jam for five days on end without channeling Jack Nicholson in Five Easy Pieces.
Or, more likely, things would probably get a little more extreme, something along the lines of Michael Douglas in Falling Down.
