Tuesday’s unveiling of the Rusty Wier sculpture (see previous Blotch post) was followed later that evening by a performance by Lubbock legend Joe Ely. Afterward, Larry Joe Taylor, Deryl Dodd, and Marc-Alan Barnette held a song swap that lasted well into the evening.

The show was held at the “rock stage” at Melody Mountain Ranch in Stephenville.

The stage is made of large stones and includes fire pits that burn during the shows. Performers sit on bales of hay. The intimate and gorgeous stage makes for a wonderful concert experience.

The Larry Joe Taylor Texas Music Festival continues through Saturday night. This weekend’s lineup includes Reckless Kelly, Brandon Rhyder, Tejas Brothers, Bruce Robison, Chris Knight, Tommy Alverson, Johnny Cooper, and many others.
